What is Jalebi? | Wordology

jalebi

Jalebi is a sweet snack which is often served as dessert along with rabri. It is prepared with refined wheat flour or yeasted dough, sugar and clarified butter. Sometimes, saffron and cardamom are also added to it. Rice flour is also used to prepare extra crunchy jalebi. A combination of dahi and jalebi is eaten in some parts of India. In some parts of the world jalebi is dipped in honey instead of sugar syrup and both are equally appealing. There is no rule for serving jalebi hot or cold. People eat it as per their preference. It has a crunchy interior and is a little bit chewy from the inside.
