Trifle is basically a dessert with layers. It is prepared by layering sponge fingers or thin sponge cake slices, custard, fruits, jelly or jam and cream. There are so many variations available where chocolates, dry fruits and ice creams are also used. Trifle is topped with whipped cream and decorated with fruits or nuts depending on the flavor required.
