What is Pakoda? | Wordology

Pakoda is an Indian spicy fritter which is served as a snack. Basically, vegetables are dipped in a gram flour batter and deep fried in sesame oil.

The gram flour batter is flavoured with salt, chilli powder, ajwain, green chilli and turmeric powder.

Vegetables like onions, cauliflower and potatoes are sliced thinly to ensure better texture.

Pakoda is often served with chutney and sauces. In India, the combination of chai and pakoda is very famous.

Further, it has many names such as bhaji, chop and pakodi. This deep fried snack is really amazing and has a crunchy texture.

Another variation of this snack is bread pakoda, where bread is stuffed with a potato filling. Then, dipped in gram batter and deep fried.
